Soybean meal: Tactical option for swine respiratory disease mitigation: DVM perspective abstract

Introduction

Soybean meal (SBM) is a superb amino acid and energy source for pig diets. Soybeans also contain an abundance of functional molecules (FM) in the non-nutritive fraction, as well as bioactive peptides that arise during digestion of major SBM proteins. There is considerable information on their benefits in relation to human health, but research with food animals is in the early stages of development.
